This blog is all about Pho and me coming out of my experiences. I don't know about you but for me, eating "pho" is like a jolt of energy coming to refresh your day. I think only pho lovers would understand it. I cannot go for a week and not eat Pho. It's part of my DNA. And yes, I change it up like beef noodle soup, chick noodle soup, vegies noodle soup, and then repeat. But, trust me, you will never look back once you have fallen in love with it.
I came from central Vietnam and was a refugee after the war. I was young when I landed at LAX in 1996. I had no idea what I was doing with my life, how to speak a word of English besides "hello" and "goodbye." My childhood was an exciting time here in Southern California. I had an identity crisis, just like any migrant growing up here.
Pho is like that. It is a complex bowl with many variables, spices, heat, broth, noodles, different cuts of meats, herbs, and more. It has over 50 elements. The broth alone will have you over 15 different ingredients, I think. And yes, I will count it next time I cook Pho to give all of you the correct amount of ingredients in your bowl.
As a visitor here, you may be more knowledgeable than me, but I assure you will enjoy my reviews and recipes. PHO is a great community for us to divulge into something that we all can share from our senses to tastes to friends and loved ones. Your comments are appreciated, and my visitors are my inspiration to continue. In a way, why would I spend the time doing this if I don't value every visitor to my page?
